Platige Image Co-Creates VFX for the Latest AppleTV+ and Paramount Production: Time Bandits

Platige Image is responsible for creating numerous VFX shots in the latest AppleTV + production, “Time Bandits.” Taika Waititi is the co-creator and executive producer of the series.

“Time Bandits” is a ten-episode comedy-adventure series adapted from the 1981 cult family film directed by Terry Gilliam. The premiere of the television version is scheduled for July 24th. As announced by AppleTV+, the series tells the story of “an unpredictable journey through time and space with a group of thieves and their recruit—an 11-year-old history enthusiast named Kevin.”

“The same VFX producer, Will Reece, collaborated on the production of the earlier ‘Witcher’ and today’s ‘Time Bandits‘” says Magdalena Rudnicka, VFX producer at Platige Image. “Thanks to the excellent relationships and fruitful cooperation on three seasons of ‘The Witcher,’ we had the opportunity to be part of this new production, which was quite a challenge“, she adds.

“Time Bandits” takes viewers to epic moments in history: from the construction of Stonehenge, through the siege of Troy with the Trojan horse, escaping from dinosaurs in prehistoric times to the chaos in medieval Cairo and the Ice Age. So, the scope for visual effects creators was enormous,” recalls Rudnicka.

According to its creators, the series boasts many comedic strengths. Its executive producers are Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris, and Taika Waititi is a co-creator and executive producer. The cast includes Lisa Kudrow, young Kal-El Tuck, Tadhg Murphy, Charlyne Yi, and Roger Nsengiyumva.
