Surfacing Project Lead – Freelance

Platige Image is looking for an experienced Surfacing Project Lead to join our team.

The person in this role will work closely with CG Supervisors and Art Directors to develop the style and look of assets based on guidelines defined by our clients.

This is a freelance position, starting no earlier than May 2026, available either remotely or on-site in Warsaw.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

– Work with the production team to achieve the desired look of CG assets, including complex characters, creatures and hard surface assets such as weapons, real-world vehicles and props
– Stay aware of schedule and bids, including deliveries and deadlines
– Guide artists and provide regular feedback on their work
– Ensure visual consistency of assets and maintain technical quality
– Develop textures and shaders for both hero and background assets when necessary
– Participate in cross-team meetings
– Work closely with modeling, grooming and lighting teams throughout the look development process
– Maintain good team dynamics and show initiative in solving everyday problems

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

– At least 5 years of experience in surfacing and texture painting with a strong focus on human skin, cloth and hard-surface assets
– At least 1 year of experience in a lead role
– Proficiency in Substance Painter, Maya, Arnold and Photoshop
– Strong communication and leadership skills
– Ability to provide constructive feedback on artists’ work
– Ability to work under tight deadlines
– Fluency in English

ADDITIONALLY SCORED

– Experience developing assets in Unreal Engine
– Working knowledge of Zbrush
– Familiarity with ShotGrid (now Flow)
– Based in the European time zone (no more than 2 hours difference from CET preferred)
