Asset Lookdev TD

Platige Image is looking for an awesome all-around Asset LookDev TD with a knack for creating multiple texture maps and shaders for our breathtaking characters and props. The person in this position will work closely with CG Supervisor to develop the style and look by the guidelines defined by our Clients. You will be involved in the creation of AAA game cinematics and other hi-end 3D projects. Texture Creation, Shader Development and Material Setup:
– Create high-quality, photorealistic textures for characters, environments, and props using software like Substance Painter and Adobe Photoshop.
– Develop and implement shaders to achieve desired surface qualities (e.g., skin, fabric, metal) and work with renderers to optimize shaders for efficiency and quality.
– Set up and manage materials within 3D software to ensure they respond correctly to lighting and rendering conditions, maintaining consistency and realism.
– Work closely with modelers, lighters, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of Asset Lookdev work into the overall production pipeline.
– Communicate effectively with other artists and supervisors to address feedback and make necessary adjustments.
Quality Control and Optimization:
– Conduct regular reviews to ensure textures and materials meet artistic and technical standards.
– Optimize textures and shaders for performance without sacrificing quality, ensuring assets meet technical specifications.
Technical Problem Solving and R&D:
– Identify and solve technical issues related to Asset Lookdev, such as rendering artifacts and shader anomalies.
– Stay updated with the latest Lookdev techniques and industry trends, experimenting with new tools and methods to improve efficiency and quality.
– Develop and maintain custom tools and scripts to streamline workflows.
– Create and maintain detailed documentation of surfacing workflows, tools, and best practices.
– Provide training and support to other team members on surfacing techniques and software.



– At least 4-years of experience in surfacing, texture painting, or look development, with particular emphasis on skins on human character assets.
– Very good knowledge of Maya, Arnold and Substance Painter.
– Knowledge of standards for Python coding.
– A clear understanding of UV’s.
– A keen eye for color and detail as it relates to organic models.
– Previous production experience in cinematics/VFX or game dev.
– Excellent communication skills.




– Working knowledge of Zbrush, Mari, and Photoshop.
– Experience with traditional drawing and painting.
